Mission 12 / 52• Essential Motions

Till Character

`t` stands for 'till'. Like `f`, it searches for a character on the current line, but it stops *one character before* it.

This is especially powerful when editing up to punctuation or delimiters.

Till character motions

  • t{char}jump forward till (one character before) {char}
  • T{char}jump backward till (one character after) {char}
  • ;repeat last till motion
1
const greeting = "Hello wonderful world";
2
const result = formatUser(name, age, email);

Position your cursor before the quote and press `t"`. Notice your cursor lands on the character right before the quote!

Now it's your turn!

  1. Navigate to each green target across the code snippet.
  2. Use the motions and techniques learned in this lesson to land accurately on each target.
  3. See how fast you can complete 10 targets.
