Find Character

The fastest way to move horizontally across a single line is by searching for a specific target character.

The `f` command (for 'find') jumps your cursor directly to the character you specify.

Find on current line

  • f{char}jump forward to the next occurrence of {char}
  • F{char}jump backward to the previous occurrence of {char}
  • ;repeat the last find in the same direction
  • ,repeat the last find in the reverse direction

Want to jump to `8080`? Type `f8`. Want to find the next comma? Type `f,`, then press `;` repeatedly to hop from comma to comma across the line.
